πŸ“ How does localization work?

You can choose among 4 modes:

  • 🌐 IP-based – lowest battery impact but less accurate
  • ⌚ Watch GPS – last known GPS position from your watch
  • ✍️ Manual – you provide the coordinates
  • πŸ“± Mobile-based – from the phone (Garmin Connect)

⚠️ Free users are limited to IP-based mode.

Why is IP-based location sometimes wrong?

IP geolocation estimates your position from your public internet address. It is not 100% reliable:

  • ISPs frequently reassign IP ranges or modify their infrastructure
  • Mobile networks often route traffic through centralized gateways far from your actual position
  • VPNs or carrier-grade NAT can completely shift the detected location
  • Errors of several kilometers are common β€” and in rare cases even the wrong country may be detected

For precise weather and astronomical calculations, manual or GPS-based location is always preferable.

🧭 Set your exact location

For the best accuracy, you have two options:

Option 1 β€” Manual coordinates

Use our tool to get your exact coordinates: 🌍 Get your coordinates

Then enter the latitude/longitude in your KairosEye settings (decimal format, . as separator).

You can use your phone's live GPS location via Garmin Connect:

Garmin Connect β†’ More β†’ Settings β†’ User Settings β†’ Weather Location

Then select:

  • "Use Phone Location" β€” dynamic, follows your GPS position
  • "Use Fixed Location" β€” static manual position

⚠️ Phone location requires GPS to be enabled on your smartphone.

πŸ“… How to change the first day of the week?

In the Garmin Connect app:

Settings β†’ User Preferences β†’ Display Preferences

You can choose:

  • Saturday
  • Sunday
  • Monday

πŸ“² Do I need a companion app?

No additional mobile app is required.
KairosEye runs directly on your Garmin watch and uses Garmin Connect to sync data and settings.

πŸ”‹ Battery consumption

KairosEye is designed to be efficient:

  • 🧠 Minimal memory usage
  • πŸ”‹ Optimized battery consumption
  • βš™οΈ Smart update intervals

Premium users can fine-tune refresh rates for better performance.
